Signs You May Be Ready for Therapy.

In this blog, we will be discussing signs that you may be ready for therapy. It could be that you have read all the self-help books that you could find and notice you need more support than what a general self-help could give you. It could also be that advice from friends or family doesn’t feel helpful anymore. It may be time to start therapy. A neutral person like a therapist may be more helpful in guiding you through anxiety, stress, depression or healing from trauma.

Another common sign to look out for is; How often are you Googling symptoms? Is the Googling and searching of symptoms just making your anxiety or depression worse? Or is it helping? These are great questions to start asking yourself and if Googling symptoms is not helping you. You may be ready for therapy and professional support may a better way to seek the help you need in labeling and addressing mental health symptoms. Another factor to consider is that past coping skills are no longer working. At times we must learn new strategies to manage our mental well-being. It could have been the past coping skills were helpful but now are no longer working. A therapist can help you develop a new toolbox with new coping skills for anxiety, trauma and depression.

Furthermore, another sign that you may be ready for therapy is that your mood is worsening and not improving. For example, you are noticing that your anxiety or depression is not getting better over time. It may be time to seek therapy if you have tried getting help from your support system and it feels like it's not enough for you at this time. Another reason to seek therapy is that you are ready for change. Maybe not 100% ready, but you feel ready enough to possibly begin a healing journey or a growing journey. It could be that you are finally feeling ready to tackle that unresolved trauma, or you finally feel stable enough to work on anxiety that's been bothering you for years, or that depression that doesn't seem to go away.
