Nurturing Self-care like you nurture your Plantitas or Plants

Many many of us became plant parents during the pandemic. This could have turned in to a new hobby or a coping skill for you. In some ways we are so used to taking care of our plants, our pets, our children, or family members that we neglect ourselves. Very often we are taking better care of our plantitas or plants than our own selves.  It is time to start taking care of our well-being and nurture ourselves.

We are a lot like our plants we need sunlight, usually means being outside for at least 10 minutes a day. We also need water staying hydrated is important for our physical health and our mental health.  We often spend some much time indoors that we forget the simple healing presence of the sun, wind or fresh air. A short 10 minute walk can offer some of these benefits when we don’t have a lot of time.

Furthermore, at times we caring for our plans we must remove dying leaves or branches that are dead. In a similar that in our lives we must remove people that are no longer serving a purpose in our lives.  We do this by setting boundaries or even limiting contact with unhealthy people.

Removing negative or unhealthy people is crucial for our growth and healing.

Unhealthy people may be getting in the way of us growing and thriving. These can be people don’t support our well-being and don’t encourage us be better. These people may even bring you down as you are working on your goals. As you let go or set limits with these people you may notice more room for other healthier people, new interests or more time for yourself.

At times when our plants outgrow their current pot or environment, we must change it that means finding a new place where the plant could grow and thrive. Similarly, the same process can occur to us human beings when we have outgrown our current environments.  The environment could be work, home, relationships and we need a new pot or a new environment so that we could continue growing.  I'm encouraging you to think about this as we enter spring, and we see our plants flowers and nature around us growing to also think of ourselves living in a healthy environment and encourages to grow and heal.
